Yellowstone

Sunday evening, 12 August, found us at Fishing Bridge RV Park in Yellowstone National Park. We were blessed to get a campsite, let alone one with full RV hookups, because Jared's cousin Brian works at the park and totally hooked us up (haha, see what I did there?). When we got there however, we were surprised to find out that while Verizon's coverage map says they have 4G coverage in the area, and while our jet pack said it was getting 3 bars of 4G coverage, none of our devices could even load the Google homepage. Now you might be thinking, geez, can't you just not have internet for 2 days? Yes, we can personally deal with it. But seeing as Jared needs wifi to work and we planned our trip meticulously around him always having coverage during his work hours, this was a problem. After hours on the phone with multiple tech people who could not figure anything out, we came up with a solution. There are only a couple of places in the entire park where you can buy wifi and one of

Grand Tetons

If it constantly feels like you're looking at a calendar to figure out where and when each of these adventures are occurring, you're not the only one. Of course when one decides to blog, you can have the best intentions to blog 3-4 times a week but then of course life happens or you end up not having great wifi or you're up until 10:30 putting the baby to sleep and you just don't end up blogging as often as you hoped. But since I don't want you to miss out on any of these adventures, I will continue to play catch up and will most likely confuse you in the process. Ok, so last you heard, we were in Salt Lake City. On the blog post before that one, we were in Moab, but I started by telling you that currently we were in Soda Springs, ID after being delayed multiple time while leaving SLC. So I will start off there, on Friday, 10 August. We were in Soda Springs, ID and woke up to this view: Remember now? Ok, so we drove 3 miles into town and parked at the cit

A Month in Review

We've been traveling now for a month and a day and I thought it would be great to see how things stand. I'm sure you're wondering if we're putting on a bold face and pretending we love it while deep down we're ready to kill each other and never set foot in a trailer again. Well if you were expecting some drama or for us to come back with our tails between our legs after one month, you'll be sorely disappointed. We are actually loving our crazy adventure. Yes, the kids are driving us crazy with their bickering. Yes, the kids annoy us when they complain about being bored in the car. But guess what? They did those things at home, too. The difference is that between those moments of bickering and boredom, we are enjoying some of our nation's most beautiful places, exploring nature, learning about history and culture, seeing animals in their natural habitats, and spending more time together as a family. As much as we miss our family and friends back in Milwaukee,

Salt Lake City

Sitting in a Cabela's parking lot in Billings, MT is as good a time as any to play catch up and go back to when we were in Salt Lake City. We did A LOT in Salt Lake City. We arrived on Saturday, 4th August and stayed until Thursday 9th August. Here's a summary of everything we did. Swam in the Great Salt Lake All the travel blogs and tourist info told us to go to Antelope Island if we wanted to swim in the lake. But that was over an hour away from where we were staying and we didn't want to spend that much time in the car. So we opted to swim in the lake at Great Salt Lake State Park as it was only 20 minutes away. I read a lot of reviews which declared the lake to be disgusting, covered in brine shrimp and swarming with brine flies. I was determined to still go so we could all experience floating in the water and I was expecting the worst. But either these reviewers expected pristine tropical beaches or they have different ideas of what is gross. Yes, there are brin
